Scharfenberg, genannt "Münz"

The ruin of the Scharfenberg castle is situated on a sandstone rock close to the town Annweiler (administrative district Südliche Weinstraße). The most important task of the castle was to protect the main castle Trifels. In the 13th century a mint of the town Annweiler was placed there. As a consequence the castle got its second name “Münz”. The gains of the mint were used to keep the Trifels castle.
Tip: You should combine the visit of the Scharfenberg ruin with the visit of the Trifels castle and the Anebos ruin.
